- IV hydration — typically 1 litre of saline or lactated Ringer's — beginning before the flood dose

Any ibogaine provider who administers the medicine without a physician present throughout is not operating safely. This is not a nuanced position. Ibogaine shows people what they have been avoiding, not what they came to find. This is not a recreational altered state. It does not accommodate avoidance.
The second phase is introspective — less visual, more cognitive, often physically demanding. Nausea is common. Movement is difficult. The experience is not comfortable, and comfort is not its purpose.
The third phase is residual stimulation — a quieter period of wakefulness that can persist for several hours after the main experience resolves. Sleep is typically not possible until this passes.

Absolute contraindications — these are not preferences:
